ACNA Provincial Council Jerusalem Reports Growth of Church

GAFCON 2018 ACNA Provincial CouncilThe Provincial Council of the Anglican Church in North America had the unique opportunity to meet in Jerusalem this year. Recognizing that all of the Provincial Council delegates were also Gafcon delegates, the decision was made to hold a one-day meeting immediately following the Gafcon conference. Hosted at the Jerusalem YMCA, Council delegates received reports from around the church, passed the budget and new canon changes, and elected members to the Executive Committee. Archbishop Foley Beach shared stories of the spiritual reality and numeric of the Church. Read more on anglicanchurch.net

Summertime Prayers

Prayer for the Good Use of Leisure
O God, in the course of this busy life, give us times of refreshment and peace; and grant that we may so use our leisure to rebuild our bodies and renew our minds, that our spirits may be opened to the goodness of your creation; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
from the 1979 BCP

Prayer for Travelers
O God, our heavenly Father, whose glory fills the whole creation, and whose presence we find wherever we go: Preserve those who travel; surround them with your loving care; protect them from every danger; and bring them in safety to their journey’s end; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
from ACNA’s Texts for Common Prayer

For Joy in God’s Creation
O heavenly Father, you have filled the world with beauty: Open our eyes to behold your gracious hand in all your works; that, rejoicing in your whole creation, we may learn to serve you with gladness; for the sake of him through whom all things were made, your Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
ACNA’s Texts for Common Prayer

For the Beauty of the Earth
We give you thanks, most gracious God, for the beauty of earth and sky and sea; for the richness of mountains, plains, and rivers; for the wonder of your creatures, large and small; and for all the loveliness that surrounds us. We praise you for these good gifts, and pray that we may safeguard them for our posterity. Grant that we may continue to grow in our grateful enjoyment of your abundant creation, to the honor and glory of your Name, now and for ever. Amen.
Texts for Common Prayer

Especially during July –

Collect for Independence Day
Lord God, through whose mighty power our founders won their liberties of old; Grant that we and all the people of this land may have grace to maintain these liberties in righteousness and peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
Texts for Common Prayer

For the President of the United States and all in Civil Authority
O Lord our Governor, whose glory fills all the world: We commend this nation to your merciful care, that we may be guided by your Providence, and dwell secure in your peace. Grant to the President of the United States, the Governor of this State, and to all in authority, wisdom and strength to know and to do your will. Fill them with the love of truth and righteousness, and make them continually mindful of their calling to serve this people in reverent obedience to you; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, world without end. Amen.

Thanking Fremont School Faculty and Staff

“…Love thy neighbor as thyself…”

On Wednesday, June 13, All Saints Missions Ministry Team reached out in love and appreciation to our neighbors at Fremont Elementary School. We provided a delicious lunch (prepared by Rockfire Grill) for their faculty and staff. This plentiful meal with cold bottled water was accompanied by a sign that read, “Thank you for your hard work with children and families. Your Friends at All Saints Cathedral.” Fr. Scott’s business cards, also, were made available.

The Fremont faculty and staff were excited and very grateful. Their thank you note said that we made them “feel special.” Mission accomplished!

Emotionally Healthy Relationships

New Series: Discipleship Hour with Wednesday Follow-up Discussion

Sundays, now thru August 12 | 9:00 am
Group Discussion Follow-up on Wednesday evenings

Everyone is invited to join in!

Even though we love God with all of our hearts, souls, and minds, we may have difficulty with the ‘love thy neighbor as thyself’ part. Many good Christians are stuck in old ways, learned in our formative years, of relating to others.

Peter and his wife Geri created their first series, Emotionally Healthy Spirituality, to help us build a healthy relationship with God, and this second series is designed to help us through the challenges we face in our relationships with others. It was born out of the issues they have encountered head-on in their marriage and ministry.

The DVD and study are held during Discipleship Hour on Sundays, led by Sue Ellen Warren; with a follow-up Group Discussion on Wednesdays after Evening Prayer, led by Dr. Jim Hearn.
