Meet Deacon Mike and Mandy DiMarcangelo

In June, we were blessed with a new deacon, The Rev. (Dcn.) Mike DiMarcangelo and his wife, Mandy. We are delighted they are here at All Saints! If you haven’t yet met them, we encourage you to introduce yourself to them after Sunday services.

Mike DiMarcangelo was recently ordained a transitional deacon in the Diocese of Western Anglicans. After discerning ordination at St. Luke’s Anglican in Glendale, he now serves here at All Saints Long Beach. During the week, Mike works as the Administrative Officer in Fuller Seminary’s Executive Office, assisting both the President and Provost, as well as serving as the primary liaison to the seminary’s trustees. Previously, while completing his MDiv at Fuller, he was the Academic Planner for the Doctor of Ministry Program, as well as a research assistant for the Fuller Youth Institute’s Growing Young project. His wife, Mandy, also works at Fuller, as Manager of HR and Organization Development.

Mike grew up in NJ close to Philadelphia, and Mandy is an Orange County, CA native. They met at Wheaton College, where they first encountered the beauty, historical rootedness, and spiritual depth of the Anglican tradition. Together, they love to travel, explore new places, read a good novel out loud or watch a good TV show, and just share the joys and challenges of life with each other. Mike is an avid learner, and spends much of his free-time reading about Scripture, liturgy, Church history, pastoral care, Christian ethics, and whatever else piques his curiosity about God and the world.

Mike and Mandy have a heart for sharing the love of Christ with their neighbors and are enthusiastic partners in ministry. They are especially committed to investing in young people from more vulnerable communities, and together they have volunteered with the Lake Avenue Community Foundation since moving to Pasadena for seminary in 2011. For the past two years they have spent their Friday nights mentoring a group of high school and middle school boys, focusing both on equipping them with important skills for college and life in general, and learning more about the transforming power of the Gospel with them. This has included partnering with a local woodworker, and fellow pastor, to provide monthly apprenticeship opportunities for these students to develop marketable skills and simultaneously talk more about Jesus, a ministry they hope to expand in the future. More than anything, Mike and Mandy have been humbled by how much God has transformed them through relationships with people who are in vulnerable situations, people who understand what it means to truly trust in Jesus for their daily bread. They have learned that mission is just as much about us encountering Christ in our neighbors as us proclaiming Christ to our neighbors.

Summertime Prayers

Prayer for Travelers
O God, our heavenly Father, whose glory fills the whole creation, and whose presence we find wherever we go: Preserve those who travel; surround them with your loving care; protect them from every danger; and bring them in safety to their journey’s end; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Prayer for the Good Use of Leisure
O God, in the course of this busy life, give us times of refreshment and peace; and grant that we may so use our leisure to rebuild our bodies and renew our minds, that our spirits may be opened to the goodness of your creation; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Summertime Commitments

Summer is a time of different schedules, activities and vacations. Many of us will be away during part of the summer and therefore missing church more than during the rest of the year. But please remember…while you are away, all our ministries and expenses continue at All Saints: outreach commitments, Art Week, salaries, utilities, supplies, etc. Before you leave on your vacation or other summer activities, please remember to bring or mail your tithes and offerings to the church.
